Tamim withdraws from BCB elections

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections have been a topic of discussion and criticism in the country’s cricket arena for some time. This time, Tamim Iqbal has given a new twist to the discussion. The former captain has withdrawn from the BCB elections.

The last time to withdraw candidacy for the BCB board of directors election is until 12 noon today. Before that, Tamim appeared at the BCB office located next to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur around 10 am with the necessary documents. After that, the left-handed batter withdrew his candidacy from the country’s highest cricket governing body. A source close to Tamim confirmed the matter to Ajker newspaper.

Tamim expressed dissatisfaction, alleging interference by a government group in the BCB elections. Therefore, even though the final nomination survived the final verification, the one-time regular face of the national team voluntarily withdrew from the BCB elections.

The BCB elections are scheduled to be held on October 6. Earlier, candidates from 15 clubs announced their withdrawal from the organization’s elections yesterday. Tamim withdrew his candidacy within 24 hours. He had alleged government interference in various issues in this year’s BCB elections. Tamim also held a press conference with BNP leader Ishraq Ahmed. However, he ultimately withdrew before the election.

Like Tamim, candidates like Rafiqul Islam Babu, Syed Borhanul Islam, Saeed Ibrahim, Israfil Khasrud have also withdrawn from the election for the post of director today.
